Praying hands DAYS OF PRAYER: Prayer is an essential focus of Christian life and something we do regularly. Throughout the Parish, during 2017, we will be making prayer even more of a focus.
As part of this, through the year, we will be designating various months as ’Days of Prayer’ for specific issues, such as the local community, world mission, etc.
(No Days of Prayer for August).
A Prayer Diary is available at all the Churches in the Parish. Please feel free to take one home and use in your daily prayer life.
We also encourage those who lead Prayers during our Sunday and Mid-Week Services to use these diaries as well, which will suggest a different focus for prayer each day.
We hope you will be able, in whatever way, to take part positively in our Parishes focus on prayer for 2017.

PARISH MORNING PRAYER: 8.00 am to 8.20 am each Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday at St. Augustine's.
This is for the whole parish and anyone is most welcome to join us.

BIBLE STUDY / PRAYER MEETING: 7.30 pm on Wednesdays, in the Choir Vestry, alternate weeks.
Currently we are taking a break, and will resume with a new Bible Study series in September. Watch this space!
Please contact Simon Robinson for confirmation and more details.

Rev George and Ian are hugely grateful to you all for your well wishes, cards, gifts and donations, which have been very much appreciated and useful. Thank you.

Saturday 9th September: From 10.00 am to 6.00 pm - It’s time to Ride and Stride!

The Staffordshire Historic Churches Trust was founded in 1953 with the aim of helping churches with the cost of repairs. Ride and Stride is the annual sponsored event in aid of county Historic Churches Trusts all over England. It takes place this year on Saturday September 9th. Participants are sponsored by family and friends to visit as many churches as they can.

In 2016 140 churches took part in Staffordshire and 108 cyclists and walkers were sponsored (plus three car drivers). A total of £11,591 was raised. (Gift Aid will increase this amount) The money is used to make grants to churches for repairs and essential maintenance.

Half the money raised by each cyclist/walker is returned to their home church. If cycling or walking are too strenuous for you you can still take part travelling by public transport or car.
As well as having the aim of raising funds for churches in need of help, Ride and Stride Day gives the opportunity to get out and about and admire our wonderful heritage of churches, many of which are normally closed (apart from times of worship, of course). A handsome trophy is awarded to the cyclist or walker who visits most participating churches.

It is also a special day of fellowship for all those taking part – whether you are welcoming visitors to your church or going out on your bike or on foot to visit other churches. It is a very practical way to remind ourselves that we are part of something much bigger than our own building and our own congregation. So please think about taking part – as a cyclist, walker, welcomer, sponsor – and enjoy the day!

St. Augustine's, St. Michael's and St. John's will be open to welcome visitors (St. John's may be closed during the afternoon, but a book will be left for you to sign in). See which other churches are open by visiting the Staffordshire Ride & Stride website.
Talk to a chuchwarden in your church, or download a sponsor form.
